Crash Details PDF Print E-mail

On 2/20/08, LORsequences.com experienced a server crash.  While I won't bore you with the details, the MYSQL (database tables) for the files was completely lost.  All the MYSQL data after 12/29/07 is lost which means any submissions made to the site between 12/29/07 and 2/20/08 have lost all the texts, descriptions, and other items relating to the files.  However, the files themselves are safe.  Since the downloads portion of LORsequences is driven by this MYSQL, none of the old files will be available until I can re-add all these files by hand.  (Even though the files exist on the server, the web pages can not recognize them or find the files without all the database information being intact.)  I am currently investigating if there is a good way to "re-import" the old MYSQL database data into the new database and still have everything handle OK.   If not, I will have to add all the files to the database by hand, which will take a significant amount of time.  Your patience is appreciated.  Most of the other data is recoverable, and I'm working on getting this back online.  However, some of the content (articles) will be dropped, and other content will be moving to my personal website which is more applicable than http://LORsequences.com

All usernames should be working at this time.

The repository will accept new submissions at this time.

Changes:
Both the website and database are completely new.  The site runs off of Joomla, which is a fresh install.  I am working on moving over some of the core files I changed.  The database is also new, and I moved over some of the old data such as usernames.  None of the original content has moved yet.  For the most part, none of these articles are coming back as they are being moved to my personal website http://dunlopavechristmas.com/.  At the time of this writing, it is a brand new site that isn't up yet.  I was working on this site just prior to the LORsequences.com crash.  At any rate, I am (will) be moving over the few articles LORsequences.com needs by hand, but a lot of the old blogs and such will not resurface here.

The repository has several improvements as I installed the latest version.  This means I can not just import all the old MYSQL file data because the primary keys will not be correct.  I am investigating the best way to add the old data.  Worse case scenereo, I can do a mass import which will lose all the descriptions, authors, and other information associated with the file.  However, the files will be present.  I am hoping to avoid this.  I'll have a better idea once I get past the weekend.

Thanks,
Michael
